About MRO India 2013

Building on the success of MRO India 2012, an active initiative for a better aviation MRO scenario, the 3rd International Networking Conference & Exhibition on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul MRO India 2013 (Civil & Military), scheduled to be held from 07-09 November 2013 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, India. The event is being jointly organized by India’s leading Aviation publications Indian Aviation and The STAT Media Group which focus on the emerging MRO activities in India.

Recent studies suggest that by the year 2020, India is likely to become the 3rd largest aviation market handling 336 million domestic and 85 million international passengers with projected investment to the tune of US$ 120 billion. Indian Aviation Industry has been instrumental in the overall economic development of the country. It contributes 1.5% of GDP, supports 9.95 million jobs and is an important driver for economic growth. India will soon become a global aviation hub with its present success and expected robust growth.

The Aviation Industry of India is all geared up to explore the possibilities of boosting MRO business in India, which is currently worth US$ 500 million and estimated to grow over US$ 1.5 billion by 2020, so as to facilitate the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the rapidly growing number of the aircraft, both in civil and defence sectors, within India. A need, therefore, is felt to bring in all the players in the industry under one roof so as to enable them to explore the hitherto untapped possibilities to achieve this goal. MRO India 2013 is a step towards achieving this goal.

The importance that the Government accords to the MRO Sector of India is amply evident from the Union Budget Speech 2013-14 of the Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaran, “The aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry is at a nascent stage. Encouraging the MRO sector will generate employment besides other benefits. Hence, I propose to provide certain concessions to the MRO industry.”

Similar views have been expressed by the aviation regulators of the country. To quote K.N. Srivastava, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, “India has the potential to be a global /regional MRO destination due to continued economic growth, liberalization of aerospace policies, globalization of MRO services, it localtional advantage and the available talent. According to some estimates, India’s MRO segment is expected to grow multifold.”

Arun Mishra, IAS, Director General of Civil Aviation of Civil Aviation who inaugurated MRO India 2012 says, “Growth of MRO in India is now a necessity than an option. The airlines in India spend about 13-15 per cent of their revenues towards maintenance, the second highest cost item for airlines after fuel.”

Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command of Indian Air Force, Air Marshal J Chandra, PVSM AVSM VSM ADC,who was the guest of honour at MRO India 2012 said, “Certain steps like 100 per cent participation of the private sector in defence production, change in offset policy, etc initiated by the Govt of India are expected to provide better opportunities to our civil MRO industry to join hands with defence sector. Within IAF, we have shifted our focus from low technology high volume sourcing from Indian indigenous industrial players. We are expecting our MRO industry to partner us for reclamation, refurbishment and re-equipping of our aviation assets. We also look forward to the industry providing us the alternative production processes.”

MRO India 2013, has the active support from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. Of India, Maintenance Command of Indian Air Force, Industry Associations like MRO Association of India, Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries (SIATI) and the Aeronautical Society of India’s Mumbai Branch.

MRO India 2013 would provide a platform for the players from the Industry to discuss, debate, exhibit and showcase their world class products and services to the Indian aviation industry. The stake holders of the industry from all over the world, including policy makers, regulators, manufacturers, users – civil and military, legal experts, consultants, IT experts, training organizations, MRO Domain experts, Senior Government officials etc, would be taking part in the event.

Besides the exhibition of various products and services that are currently available, the event would include Business Round Table sessions where the leaders of the industry would debate on the various issues related to the industry as a whole. Separate day long sessions are dedicated to debate on the various needs for the MRO industry, both civil and defence, including the aspects related to its training. In addition, networking evening functions would also be organized including a “Gala Award Night” where, in accordance with the nominations by the readers of the Indian Aviation, the players as well as luminaries from the industry would be conferred with honours in recognition of their outstanding, dedicated and invaluable services to the industry.

The announcement of this meeting has already met with an enthusiastic response from all corners of the globe, as vision researchers express interest in participating in this biennial vision research event.

Asia-ARVO 2013 brings together the best in vision research, amalgamating basic and clinical science, taking bench-top work to the bedside and onwards to the community. Though he is popular for his peppy songs like Dum Maaro Dum, Piya Tu, Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyaar, O Haseena Zulfonwaali, he has also left behind a legacy of melodious songs like Waadiyan Mera Daaman, Chura Liya, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha, Tumne Mujhe Dekha, Musafir Hoon Yaaro to name a few.

Satrangi will showcase this diverse music of Pancham Da through its next presentation “Ye Hai Pancham”. The theme of this World Summit is “Global Implementation of Best Practice Opportunities and Challenges in Cardiovascular Ultrasound.” The summit will specifically focus on innovations and algorithms that are best suited for applications in clinical practice. Nearly 50% of sessions will illustrate with prototypical cases; a major impetus will be to identify potential ways of maintaining quality and throughput, identifying situations where goal oriented versus comprehensive approaches can be applied. There will be opportunities for oral and poster abstract presentations along with interesting cases from all over the world. Finally, the summit will have a number of industry-sponsored sessions where the cutting edge technologies will be presented with focus on multi-dimensional imaging, structural imaging, automation, telemedicine and cloud-based computation and satellite case presentations.

Who Should Attend the 2^nd World Summit on Echocardiography?
The World Summit will benefit all healthcare providers interested in the application of cardiovascular ultrasound imaging in the care of patients. Participants in all areas of cardiovascular ultrasound imaging and at all levels of experience will find sessions that meet their needs and help improve their practice. High quality lectures, debates, hands-on sessions and poster presentations offer a broad spectrum of educational opportunities in both large and small group settings. Adult and pediatric cardiologists, cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, cardiac sonographers, and emergency and critical care physicians, as well as hospitalists, radiologists, research scientists, residents and fellows in training, students, and nurses, are encouraged to participate actively in sessions and interact with available faculty, get a broad overview of all topics, or delve deeply into one or two topics.

Track Descriptions A-D:
A – Advanced Echo: This track is designed to provide insight into clinical and technologic advancements in echocardiography that can be currently utilized for the understanding of cardiac morphology and function.

B – Basic Echo: These daily tracks concentrate on clinical use of cardiovascular ultrasound. Each symposium discusses a specific topic in detail and instructs you on how to apply state-of-the-art cardiovascular ultrasound techniques in clinical practice.

C – Clinician’s Corner: The main goal of this track is to recognize the utility of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography in management decisions for various cardiac abnormalities and in clinical settings as per new ASE/EACVI guidelines and consensus statements.

D – Diverse Applications: This track is designed to promote alternative emerging applications in cardiovascular ultrasound including focused echocardiogram, automation, telemedicine and cloud-based computation.
